BODIES/BORDERS: THE JOURNEY
(Documentary produced and directed in Ecuador by Maria Amelia Viteri and the Desbordes de Géner@ Collective)
SINOPSIS
Are you masculine, masculine and/or feminine, or feminine? Who decides? Following the many paths our bodies can go down, this documentary looks at the journey of a group of students, activists, academics, and artists who come together for political and playful performances that breakdown stereotypes and traditional notions of what it means to be a man or a woman in order to expand on the meanings and understandings of gender. "Bodies/Borders: The Journey" questions the borders of the masculine/feminine binary and seeks to re-draw the human geography of cities that naturally divides up spaces for different groups, in order to make all public spaces more inclusive and diverse. This documentary is an invitation to cross the borders of the body and to go beyond thinking of yourself and others as being only a "man" or only a "woman."
